Exeter will be hoping it proves to be third time lucky against Leicester when the two sides meet in LV= Cup action at Sandy Park on Saturday.
The Tigers have already recorded two wins over their next opponents in Aviva Premiership action this season, though they were made to work hard for the points on both occasions.
The plucky Chiefs came close to pulling off a shock result at Welford Road at the start of the campaign before eventually succumbing 37-27.
They also pushed the defending champions hard in the return fixture on home soil but still ended up being on the wrong end of a 22-15 scoreline.
"You learn some hard lessons in the Premiership and against Leicester we have learnt two hard lessons," said Exeter boss Rob Baxter.
"We put an awful lot into both those games, but only came away with one point. This week we know we have to be more clinical."
Baxter has freshened up his team from the one who started last weekend's Amlin Challenge Cup tie in Montpellier. Only three - Ben Moon and Neil Clark in the front-row and Andrew Higgins on the wing - keep their places.
"For us, Saturday's game is very much about us using the fixture to get a few guys up to speed again and some others who need game time," he added.
"That, we believe is going to be very important running into our next block of Premiership games."
Duo start
Meanwhile, Boris Stankovich and Dan Hipkiss make their first starting appearances of 2011 for Leicester.
Loosehead prop Stankovich has appeared twice from the bench since returning from a facial injury suffered in the league win over Bath in October.
Centre Hipkiss, who has been linked with a move away from Welford Road, has not played since the cup tie against the Ospreys in November.
Director of rugby Richard Cockerill also includes South African flanker Pieter Myburgh for his club debut. He joins fellow academy products Matt Everard and Dan Hemingway in the back row.
Openside flanker Ben Woods is named among the replacements on his return from a wrist injury.
