Free-scoring winger Vincent Clerc has insisted France will not under-estimate Samoa at the Stade de France on Saturday.
Les Bleus go into the game on the back of a superb 20-13 victory over world champions South Africa, while Samoa were beaten by Wales.
And despite seeing 12 changes being made to the line-up, Clerc - who, along with Maxime Medard and Thierry Dusautoir, has retained his place - claims France now the Pacific Islanders will pose a tough challenge.
"We know what they're capable of doing," said Clerc.
"It's our responsibility to produce a good performance. It's almost as important as the match against South Africa and we want to continue in the same vein.
"They can sometimes be exploited in defence but they have such physical qualities that they can quickly recover, get the ball back and turn the pressure around.
Opportunity
"There will be spaces and opportunities but we mustn't start trying to play spectacular rugby because we could very quickly run out of steam."
Samoa coach Fuimaono Titamea Tafua insists he has named the strongest possible line-up for the match - although George Stowers and Gavin Williams are both missing.
"The French side is one of the best in the world, so we are selecting the best possible team from our squad," said Tafua.
"It's a very good opportunity for us to play these tier-one nations. We're expecting a tough game from the French.
"France are one of the best teams, especially in their backs, and we've been watching them beat the number one team last week and the tight five played a very good game."
