Glasgow Warriors have named an unchanged starting line-up for their hotly-anticipated 1872 Cup derby clash against Edinburgh on Monday.
The first match of the season between the two Scottish sides takes place at Firhill, with the return match scheduled for Murrayfield on January 2.
Glasgow won both contests last season to regain the 1872 Cup, but Edinburgh are currently leading the Scottish charge and are seven points ahead of their rivals in the Magners League.
"This is it. This is the derby double and it's fantastic. These games have been brilliant the last few years," Glasgow head coach Sean Lineen said.
"The players have gotten right up for them and they've got a real edge to them. There are so many head-to-heads, individual one-on-one battles and reasons to do well."
The Warriors make only one change to the match-day squad of 23 from Tuesday's Heineken Cup clash against Toulouse, with returning hooker Dougie Hall taking the place of Pat MacArthur on the bench.
Paterson out
Edinburgh will have to cope without Chris Paterson, who has lost a race for fitness after suffering a shoulder injury in the Heineken Cup win against Castres on Monday.
He is replaced at full-back by Jim Thompson, while Scott MacLeod returns to the second row for the first time since being injured on Scotland duty to partner Fraser McKenzie, who missed the Castres match with a back problem.
The final change sees Ross Rennie come into the back row for Stuart McInally, while skipper Roddy Grant switches from flanker to No. 8.
"I'm happy with the side we'll be sending out, and I've been really impressed by the attitude that the players have shown in training ahead of what is a vital game," head coach Rob Moffat told Edinburgh's official website.
"Chris is feeling a lot better than earlier in the week, but we've decided to err on the side of caution and make sure he is absolutely right when he does return to the field again.
"In terms of replacements, Jim is a very talented player who is more than capable of rising to the level of challenge we'll all face at Firhill on Monday."
