Guinness PRO12: Rob Kearney and Ian Madigan star as Leinster beat Scarlets 42-12 at RDS

Reigning PRO12 champions Leinster responded to their opening day defeat with a a resounding 42-12 triumph over Scarlets at the RDS on Saturday.
Any concerns raised in the wake of their 22-20 reverse at the hands of Glasgow Warriors at Scotstoun - a repeat of last season's Grand Final - were extinguished as the Irish province produced an authoritative display to overpower the Welsh region.
Returning Ireland full-back Rob Kearney and centre Ian Madigan took centre stage, scoring two tries apiece and terrorising the Scarlets' defence all afternoon as Leinster successfully bounced back from defeat to Glasgow in last weekend's curtain-raiser.
Kearney's brace, combined with a try and six kicked points from centre Madigan, gave Leinster a 16-point cushion at the interval, with the visitors only able to muster an unconverted score via Scott Williams.
Versatile back Madigan doubled his try tally shortly after the restart and maintained his perfect afternoon from the tee as the hosts secured a bonus point in Dublin.
Flanker Dominic Ryan added Leinster's fifth score, which was converted by Steve Crosbie, on the hour before 21-year-old prop Tadhg Furlong's first senior try completed the rout and Madigan slotted the extras to take his personal haul to 20 points.
Leinster capatin Jamie Heaslip was shown a yellow card in the final minute after deliberately knocking the ball on and Jamie Snyman took advantage to claim a late consolation try for the Scarlets, who are still chasing their first win of the season after drawing with Ulster last weekend.
