Scotland coach Andy Robinson claims his side need to go toe-to-toe with South Africa if they are to record a victory at Murrayfield.
The Springboks have so far recorded narrow wins over Ireland and Wales despite missing a number of key players.
South Africa's squad has been hit further after Bjorn Basson and Chiliboy Ralepelle were sent home having tested positive for a banned stimulant, while Bryan Habana was injured in training.
Robinson, though, insists the tourists are still packed full of quality and it will be up to his side to rise to the challenge.
"They managed to win each match in different ways," said Robinson.
"Against Ireland, they came under late and sustained pressure - then against Wales they produced a superb comeback when it mattered.
"Both results showed how good they can be and I expect they will try to run over us - as well as through us.
Develop
"South Africa get the best out of the personnel they have. They have a very powerful pack and Francois Hougaard at scrum-half has pace and will ask a lot of questions.
"Morne Steyn can be a world beater and a very, very good kicker while Jean de Villiers is straight up and down but good at it.
"Ryan Kankowski at No.8 is a top-class ball carrier who gets himself in the game repeatedly and Juan Smith is one of the best backrowers in the world.
"We've got to match what they throw at us and be able to play our game - play the way we're trying to develop."
Robinson has made five changes for the clash with Rory Lawson, who will skipper the side, Nikki Walker, Scott MacLeod and Nathan Hines coming into the side, while the uncapped Joe Ansbro starts after Max Evans picked up an injury.
Robinson has also made a positional switch, with Kelly Brown switching to No.8.
South Africa have also made four changes to their line-up - with Lwazi Mvovo, Zane Kirchner, Francois Hougaard and Ryan Kankowski handed their chance.
Gio Aplon also moves from full-back to wing to accommodate Kirchner, while Ruan Pienaar drops to the bench and Pierre Spies misses out completely.
