Patrick Lambie scored 21 points to help the Sharks maintain their 100% winning start to the Super Rugby season with a 26-10 victory over the Blues in Durban.
The South Africa fly-half scored a try early on and then won the battle of the kickers with Stephen Brett.
But the visitors stayed in the hunt right until the closing stages when substitute JP Pietersen went over to wrap up the game for the Sharks.
John Plumtree's men dominated the opening passages of play and were rewarded after just three minutes when Lambie's attempted grubber kick bounced of a Blues defender allowing the fly-half to regather and dive over.
The number 10 easily converted and then added a penalty as the hosts stretched their lead to 10-0 early on.
But the visitors responded via two penalties from Brett. Despite their domination, the Sharks found it hard to penetrate the Blues' defence and the rest of the half turned out to be a battle of the boot.
Penalised
Lambie extended their lead again after Anthony Boric was penalised for an infringement in the line-out, but a Tendai Mtawarira error allowed Brett to hit straight back.
Both had further chances to add to their tally before the break - Lambie scored his while Brett saw a 60-metre effort fade wide - as the Sharks went into half-time 16-9 ahead.
After the restart, Lambie took full advantage of another mistake to extend the gap to 10, and they could have added further daylight between themselves and the Blues but Willem Alberts lost the ball in the tackle with the try-line at his mercy.
That let-off sparked resurgence from the New Zealanders, who then began a period of domination.
Unfortunately for them, though, the only reward was a penalty from replacement fly-half Luke McAlister.
With five minutes remaining, Pietersen sealed the victory with a breakaway try, onverted by Lambie as the Sharks made it two wins in two.
