South Africa have named three uncapped forwards in their team to face England in Saturday's first Test.
Locks Juandre Kruger and Eben Etzebeth were both included in new coach Heyneke Meyer's side for the clash at Durban's Kings Park, along with flanker Marcell Coetzee.
A fourth newcomer, prop Coenie Oosthuizen, could make his first appearance off the bench.
The players add a new dimension to an otherwise experienced side following a series of retirements and injuries.
The starting 15 still boasts a combined total of 458 Test caps with nine of the players that featured in last year's World Cup quarter-final against Australia retained.
Succeed
Meyer said: "Eben, Juandre, Marcell and Coenie have all put their hands up this season and I know they can succeed at Test level.
"It is quite a new thing in South African rugby to have two uncapped locks starting. It is a huge step up but I am confident in them.
"I am very happy for them and their families and know they will make South Africa proud.
"Although the team is quite young, we still have some experience across the starting 15.
"The balance in the team is right in the way we want to play against England and we're looking forward to the first Test."
England coach Stuart Lancaster has handed debuts to prop Joe Marler and flanker Tom Johnson, with Ben Foden moved to the wing in place of the injured David Strettle with Harlequins' Mike Brown coming in at full-back.
In four changes to the side that beat Ireland in their final RBS 6 Nations game in March, Ben Youngs gets the starting berth at scrum-half with Owen Farrell at stand-off.
Benched
Lee Dickson will have to make do with a place on the replacements' bench along with fit-again Leicester fly-half Toby Flood, who has been out for the past month with groin and ankle injuries.
Danny Care, back in the squad after being overlooked for the Six Nations due to a string of off-field incidents, must bide his time before a recall, while James Haskell and Alex Corbisiero miss out this time.
Captain Chris Robshaw said that while South Africa represent the biggest yet to the new England set-up, the team will focus on building on the solid foundations the Six Nations provided.
"We have spoken about the teams and the players and this is another step up," he said. "We look at where we were in the Six Nations and we are now coming away from home and we are building on what we have achieved so far.
"Of course we have got to match them but it is about playing our game. It is also about reacting to certain situations. You can't prepare for everything, you have to hope players are good enough to think on their feet."
