South Africa will be looking to seal a series sweep when they take on Wales in the second Test in Pretoria on Saturday.

The reigning World champions powered to a 43-17 victory in Bloemfontein in the opening Test, though that hasn't stopped new coach Pieter de Villiers from making changes.

After being on the bench last weekend Victor Matfield comes into the starting XV to play alongside Bakkies Botha in the second row.

There is also a recall for Ricky Januarie after De Villiers banned the scrum-half for one match for a breach of discipline.

Prop Tendai Mtawarrira will win his first cap in the front row alongside his Sharks team-mate BJ Botha.

Stiffer challenge

Despite the one-sided scoreline in the opening match, South Africa captain John Smit feels Wales will be out to prove a point second time around.

"We'd be foolish not to expect a much stiffer challenge," the hooker, who lifted the World Cup in Paris last year, said.

"We made a reasonably good start to the season last week, but there was lots of work to be done and we concentrated on tightening our defence, communicating better, fixing our scrum and launching better from first phase."

Wales coach Warren Gatland has decided to make sweeping changes after suffering his first defeat since taking charge.

After a Grand Slam season in the Six Nations the Welsh came crashing back down to earth with a bump last Saturday, meaning they are still searching for their first ever win on South African soil.

James Hook returns but is in the unfamiliar position of full-back, meaning Jamie Roberts plays in the centres for the first time for either club or country.

Altered pack

The pack has also been altered, flanker Dafydd Jones and prop Adam Jones both losing their places while Matthew Rees is ruled out through injury.

Skipper Ryan Jones shifts to the blindside to allow Gareth Delve the chance to make his first international start.

"We have to be upbeat," Wales' captain said ahead of the second Test.

"We've only got each other out here. We're thousands of miles away from home and there are 26 of us.

"It doesn't get any bigger than Saturday. We're optimistic - we go into every game hoping to win. This is an opportunity to redeem ourselves. That's what it's all about."
