There will be a repeat of the 2004 final at the Stadium de Toulouse on Sunday when Wasps take on Toulouse.
Wasps won that final 27-20 at Twickenham in dramatic fashion - however they face a much tougher task against the current champions, who have recorded 43 victories in 51 games at home.
Four-time champions Toulouse have named a virtually all-international match-day squad featuring Byron Kelleher and David Skrela as the starting half-back combination.
However, there is no place in the starting line-up for prolific try-scorer Maxime Medard as Clément Poitrenaud is preferred at full-back.
Wasps have made three changes in personnel for the trip to France.
Mark van Gisbergen, Simon Shaw - both members of the 2004-winning side - and Zak Taulafo come into the starting XV.
There are further changes on the bench as Riki Flutey and Dan Ward-Smith return, while Jason Hobson is poised to make his first appearance since recovering from an Achilles injury.
And director of rugby Tony Hanks insists his side are excited by the challenge ahead.
Hanks said: "Everyone at the club is delighted to be back in the Heineken Cup this season and what a way to open our campaign against the reigning champions.
"There is a great deal of excitement throughout the squad and everyone is focused on ensuring a strong performance in round one.
"Facing a side of Toulouse's quality is obviously a huge challenge but one we have prepared well for."
