Ulster coach Brian McLaughlin has made just two changes to his starting XV for the visit of Aironi in their opening game of the Heineken Cup.
Ian Humphreys makes his first start of the season, replacing Niall O'Connor at fly-half, while Tim Barker starts ahead of the benched Dan Tuohy.
A wrist injury means that prop BJ Botha misses out despite being included in the initial extended squad.
Aironi has been rocked by news skipper Quintin Geldenhuys will miss the trip to Ravenhill.
The winless Magners League outfit are also without Fabio Ongaro but they will have plenty of experience in their side, though, with Nick Williams, Ludovic Mercier, Marco Bortolami and Carlo del Fava all starting.
