Harlequins face London rivals Wasps at Twickenham on Saturday, looking to put a summer of controversy behind them.
The exposure of the fake blood substitution scam committed in April's Heineken Cup quarter-final against Leinster has left the club in turmoil.
Former director of rugby Dean Richards has yet to be replaced after being found accountable for the scandal, while physio Steph Brennan and club chairman Charles Jillings have also gone their separate ways.
Add to that a four-month ban for the player involved - Tom Williams - and a £260,000 fine for the club and you have a team desperately looking to get the focus back onto the positives.
Despite all the instability caused by the scandal Quins remain a strong outfit, with Will Skinner at the helm on the pitch.
New signing Gonzalo Camacho is poised to make his Premiership bow on the wing, meanwhile, and, with Mike Brown still injured, Ugo Monye is set to start at full-back.
Other new arrivals, John Andress and Rory Clegg have been named on the Quins bench for the first time, along with academy star George Lowe and Steve So'oialo in what still looks a powerful unit.
Changes
Wasps have enjoyed a relatively low key pre-season, by comparison, but have still made a significant number of personnel changes to make things interesting.
New director of rugby Tony Hanks has come in and has started by handing debuts to six new signings this weekend, with a further two named on the bench.
The side will be captained by France star Serge Betsen, who is named as part of a forwards pack that features new prop Gabriel Bocca and number eight Dan Ward-Smith, as well as Wasps regulars, 2009 British and Irish Lions tourist Tim Payne and England Saxons' George Skivington.
In the back division, a dynamic new look line up includes wingers Tom Varndell and David Lemi, Australian centres Ben Jacobs and Steve Kefu and a half back pairing of Danny Cipriani and Joe Simpson.
Hanks has been impressing on his players the importance of the fixture and, with Quins surely adopting a siege mentality, it promises to be a terrific tie.
"There is a great excitement around this fixture against our local rivals Harlequins, marking not only the start of the Guinness Premiership, but for Wasps, a chance to put a long pre-season of hard work into action," Hanks said.
"With an influx of so many new faces this season, it is great to give our players a debut in the Wasps jersey on one of the grandest rugby stages in Twickenham.
"There is a huge awareness of the responsibility and expectation that comes of 'being a Wasp' and this acts as great motivation for a team looking to set out their standards and create their own chapter in Wasps history.
"We expect a big battle and relish the challenge ahead of us - facing a Quins side that will be just as eager as us to start the season strong. The feeling amongst our group is good and I am sure that we will see a committed and dedicated performance that will reflect the hard work that has been shown by every single individual on and off pitch in the lead up to this game."
