Gael Monfils has pulled out of France's Davis Cup semi-final against Croatia, the French Tennis Federation announced on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old Frenchman has been struggling with a knee problem, despite reaching the semi-final stage of the US Open last week.
Monfils' withdrawal comes as another blow to the French team, who also lost Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to injury earlier this month.
Tsonga's replacement, Richard Gasquet, is expected to play singles along with world No 18 Lucas Pouille.
Pouille has played just one tie for the French team during the 3-1 quarter-final win against the Czech Republic.
The world's top-ranked doubles pair, Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert, complete the line-up for the semi-final in Zadar.
Croatia are set to be led by big-serving duo Marin Cilic and Borna Coric as they look to claim their second Davis Cup title.
Meanwhile, defending champions Great Britain take on Argentina in the competition's other semi-final in Glasgow on Friday.
