World number two to rest ahead of Wimbledon

Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the AEGON Championships at Queen's Club in the wake of his French Open defeat to Roger Federer. The world number two saw his winning run end at 43 matches after a 7-6 6-3 3-6 7-6 loss at Roland Garros on Friday. He had been due to begin his grass-court campaign at Queen's but has now instead opted to rest ahead of the third grand slam of the year at Wimbledon. "I've pulled out from Queen's and I will take a rest before Wimbledon," the Australian Open champion said. Organisers at Queen's later said the Serbian had pulled out due to patellar tendinitis, a condition which affects the tendon connecting the kneecap to the shinbone. Meanwhile, British number one Andy Murray, who also exited the French Open in the semi-finals, has cast doubt on his participation in the tournament. Murray suffered an ankle injury during his campaign at Roland Garros and will see how he reacts to coming off anti-inflammatory pills before deciding whether or not he will play. "I'm not 100 per cent sure if I'll play there," the 24-year-old said. World number one Rafael Nadal, four-time champion Andy Roddick and US Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro are all scheduled to take part in the event, which begins on Monday.
