Home favourite Johanna Larsson will take on Mona Barthel in Sunday's Swedish Open final with the German bidding to defend her title.

Barthel, the fourth seed, won her semi-final showdown against Spain's Lara Arruabarrena in convincing fashion as she cruised to a 6-3 6-2 victory.

And standing in the German's way of successive Bastad titles is Larsson, who overcame Yulia Putintseva 6-4 6-2 in her last-four encounter.

Larsson has reached the final of the Swedish Open on two previous occasions, but lost to Polona Hercog in 2011 and then Serena Williams two years later.

But the Swede, buoyed by her home crowd, is hoping to make it third time lucky on Sunday.

"I have been beaten a few times by Barthel so it will be nice with a revenge game at home," said the seventh seed.
