The Serb will face second-seeded Andy Murray, a 6-3 6-0 winner over fourth-seeded Kei Nishikori of Japan in the evening semi-final.

Djokovic, the tournament champion in 2007, 2011 and 2012, has won 52 of 55 matches this year.

He is in position to tie the ATP Tour record for consecutive Masters 1000 event titles at five and seventh of the season after winning the Australian Open and Wimbledon plus Masters trophies in Indian Wells, Miami, Monte Carlo and Rome.

Djokovic continues to dominate at the ATP Tour's biggest events, unbeaten in a prestigious Masters 1000 tournament since he fell to Roger Federer in Shanghai last year.

A break of serve in each set was enough for the 28-year-old to stay comfortably in control of his 49th-ranked opponent, playing a Masters semi-final for the first time.

"It was good to get a quick win likes this," said Djokovic. "I was glad to do it with two breaks. Jeremy played well, but I was totally concentrated and stayed in control of the baseline.

"I'm excited about reaching the final. All of these events are important and it would be great to win another final this season."
