Andy Murray is stubborn and determined which is what makes him such a great champion, claims Sky Sports tennis expert Greg Rusedski.

It took two years, a month and nine attempts but Murray finally mastered the master again as he beat Novak Djokovic 6-4 4-6 6-3 to win the Montreal Masters on Sunday.

The 28-year-old two-time Grand Slam champion snapped an eight-match losing streak against his top-ranked rival with a fighting performance to complete a Canadian title hat-trick after trophies in 2009 and 2010.

"He lost in final of the Australian Open in four sets against Novak and then lost a few more times. Then at the French Open came back from two sets down to lose in five sets and then today he finally gets that victory after eight straight defeats so this could be the turning point for Murray," said Rusedski.

"He re-established himself as the second best player in the planet coming in on Monday although Djokovic still is the number one, but this will give him confidence.

"He won his first major in 2012 at the US Open so he's going to be feeling great about his chances now.
