Jordanne Whiley has revealed she was 11 weeks pregnant when she won the Wimbledon women's wheelchair doubles earlier this month.

Whiley, the 25-year-old Paralympian, secured her fourth successive title in the event with Japanese doubles partner Yui Kamiji.

Whiley, who is a two-time Paralympic bronze medallist, is expecting her first child with her partner of five years Marc McCarroll, who is also her coach.

The 10-time grand slam champion, told The Mixed Zone: "It was planned. After Rio we decided we wanted a family.

"I thought, 'If we start trying in May I could still play Wimbledon', and it worked. But I had no idea how incredibly sick I'd be."

Whiley is targeting a return to the tennis courts "in a year of 18 months" and has not ruled out participating at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.

She added: "I've been encouraged by seeing what Sarah Storey and Jess Ennis have achieved. It's definitely possible for mums to be elite sportswomen."
