Verdict

Imperial Decree is the tentative selection ahead of Ambrose Princess, Beautiful Lady, Amicable Terms and Ever Dreaming. A good bit has to be taken on trust by supporters of John Berry's filly but she has shown a glimmer of ability and could conceivably improve for the longer trip. Her performances this season leave something to be desired but she ran her best races last season on fast ground and this will be the first time this term that she's encountered similar conditions. Beautiful Lady is well bred but may appreciate more cut in the ground and already looks in need of further; that said she may get away with it given the weak nature of this race. Similar remarks apply to Ever Dreaming who didn't run too badly at Goodwood on her penultimate start but Ambrose Princess and Amicable Terms boast more solid claims. The former has shown a good attitude to win back to back sellers and shouldn't find this company beyond her whilst the latter has proved admirably consistent and should be in the mix once again if allowed to take her chance after racing at Yarmouth on Tuesday. A tricky end to the day's proceedings and Imperial Decree couldn't be a confident selection given that she has questions to answer.
