In depth

Verdict

Muktasb, Boanerges and Global Achiever catch the eye and our vote is for Muktasb. Derek Shaw's team have been in solid form in recent weeks, and whilst Muktasb is still a maiden after 16 starts, his recent runs have suggested that his turn won't be too long in coming. A repeat of a fast-finishing second to Hello Roberto should be enough to get that overdue victory on the board. Boanerges is clearly not the horse he once was. That said, he looks to have relished the concept of banded races and has already scored at Southwell. His draw could have been better. Global Achiever is exposed at this grade but hails from an in-form yard. Greg Chung had a double on Wednesday and the market is watched accordingly. Town House failed to make use of a low draw on his latest start. Joe Fanning replaces an inexperienced claimer. Red Sovereign has dropped significantly in the handicap and could well force the pace. Leah's Pride is watched in the market while Music Teacher is a rare banded runner for Neville Callaghan. A trappy affair to get matters underway and we shall side with Muktasb.
