Joey Carbery will miss Ireland's two Test matches against Japan after spraining his ankle against the United States.
The Leinster back will spend the summer rehabbing his injury rather than join the rest of the national squad in Japan, where they face the Brave Blossoms in a pair of Test matches.
Carbery flew home after receiving the results of a scan, before the rest of the squad left for Japan.
Paddy Jackson could step into the No 10 role Carbery took in New Jersey last weekend, while Garry Ringrose and Rory Scannell provide Joe Schmidt with other goalkicking options.
"As far as I know it's not related to the syndesmosis injury he had earlier in the season," Ireland skills coach Richie Murphy said.
"It's a grade 2/3 high ankle sprain, and we won't be bringing anyone else into the squad. Obviously Paddy Jackson is here already so he can come straight in. We're well covered for goal-kicking.
"Rory Scannell has been working away at that and Garry Ringrose has been doing a little bit as well, which he hasn't done in a long time. We're comfortable enough with the guys we have there now.
"Tiernan (O'Halloran) was cramping up late on in the game, but there was nothing to worry about. All the players are fit and went through the walk-through this morning. So, we've no other injury worries at the moment."
