Anthony Joshua received a visit from Rory McIlroy in Miami as he continues preparations for his fight against Anthony Ruiz Jr.

Joshua has based his training camp in Florida, where McIlroy lives, and the World No 4 dropped by to offer advice on the local area to the WBA 'super', IBF and WBO heavyweight champion.

Joshua told Sky Sports: "It is nice. I am in his hometown and he comes down and tells me where the spots are to go, where to keep a low profile and to get some food and stuff like that."

McIlroy, who is a big boxing fan, will not be in attendance when Joshua takes on Ruiz Jr at Madison Square Garden on June 1.

Joshua claims Andy Ruiz Jr is a 'smarter' fighter than Jarrell Miller and says he will have to adapt his preparations for his US debut in New York

Instead, he will be competing at the Memorial Tournament in Ohio as he finalises preparations for the US Open at Pebble Beach two weeks later but he is in no doubt that Joshua will emerge victorious.

"I had the opportunity to come here and see him as he is kicking off his camp in Miami. I just wanted to come and wish him well," McIlroy said.

"I will not be able to come to the fight on the first of June but I am sure it will be like every other fight and it will be a big victory."
