Worcestershire win to boost hopes of reaching One-Day Cup playoffs

Worcestershire's 50-run victory over Yorkshire Vikings in the One-Day Cup propelled them into a play-off position in the North Group - but Lancashire's DLS loss to Warwickshire dented their aims of reaching the knockout stage.

Yorkshire, needing to win to keep their own play-off hopes alive, were set 294 to win but Wayne Parnell's five-wicket haul saw the visitors bundled out for 143 in 33 overs at New Road. SCORECARD

The Vikings began their chase well but Parnell dismissed both openers, having Adam Lyth (22) caught behind before trapping Henry Brook lbw for a second-ball duck. He then bowled Tom Kohler-Cadmore (31) to reduce the visitors to 67-3.

Jack Leaning (24), wicketkeeper Jonny Tattersall (12) and Mat Pillans (31) were the only other batsmen to make double figures but Pillans becoming Parnell's fourth scalp when he was caught at backward point and Josh Poysden was caught for a first-ball duck to complete the all-rounder's fifth List A five-for.

Worcestershire's innings hinged on a crucial 169-run fifth-wicket partnership between George Rhodes (106) and wicketkeeper Ben Cox (87) - the pair striking 23 boundaries between them to push the hosts to to 293-7 after they had fallen to 62-4. SCORECARD

Meanwhile, a brilliant unbeaten 84 from Sam Hain for already-eliminated Warwickshire saw Lancashire fall to a five-wicket loss on DLS at Edgbaston.

Chasing a revised 255 from 45 overs following rain, Hain's 111-run, fourth-wicket partnership with Liams Banks (61) put the hosts on course for just their second win this season after James Anderson (3-21) had reduced Warwickshire to 62-3.

When Banks fell to Graham Onions, the home side required 82 off eight overs and though Chris Woakes made a quickfire 20 off 16 balls, it was wicketkeeper Alex Mellor's 30 off 13 balls - which included two fours and two huge sixes - that ensured Warwickshire sealed the win with three balls to spare.

With one match remaining for Worcestershire, the win over Yorkshire moved them onto 10 points, level with Lancashire, but Dane Vilas' side sit in third with an inferior net run-rate and have played all eight of their group matches.

Nottinghamshire, who currently top the North Group with 11 points, play Northamptonshire, Worcestershire travel to Derbyshire - live on Sky Sports - while Durham, who are in fourth place with nine points, face Yorkshire in their final group games on Monday.

With Leicestershire and Northamptonshire rooted to the bottom of the North Group having picked up just a single victory from six matches, they were both looking for a morale-boosting win. SCORECARD

Richard Keogh and Ben Curran shared the vital partnership for Northants, putting on 154 runs for the fifth wicket.

After reaching a brilliant century off just 83 balls, that included 10 fours, Keogh was caught for 102 as looked to clear the man at long off, with Northants finishing on 290-6.

All of Leicestershire's batsmen made contributions but no batsman was able to make a big enough score to get them close enough to their target - Ben Mike top-scoring with 41 as the Foxes fell to a 29-run loss after being restricted to 261-9.
