Kieran Powell may be in line for his first West Indies appearance in three years after being named in a 15-man training squad for the one-day series against England.

The left-handed batsman had turned his back on the Windies after growing disillusioned with the set-up in 2014, and tried his hand at baseball in the hope of realising his Major League Baseball dream.

But he returned to domestic action last year and is currently in red-hot form, three List A centuries for Leeward Islands in 2017 having led to his call-up ahead of the three-match series against Eoin Morgan's tourists.

Ten of the 11 men who featured in the Windies' last ODI - a defeat to Zimbabwe in November last year - have been included in the line-up, with only top-order batsman Johnson Charles missing out.

Another notable absentee in the training squad is all-rounder Marlon Samuels, who was recently cleared to resume bowling in international cricket after amending an illegal action.

Samuels was the man of the match when England and the West Indies last met in any format - the World Twenty20 final last April in Kolkata.

Another player who starred in that encounter, Carlos Brathwaite, is also included and the first ODI in Antigua on March 3 is likely to mark the first time he will come up against fellow all-rounder Ben Stokes since memorably smashing the Englishman for four successive sixes to seal glory for the Windies at Eden Gardens.

The series will also be Stuart Law's first in charge of the Caribbean side, the former Australia international having signed a two-year deal to become head coach last month.
