Ireland seamer Nathan Smith has been ruled out of their inaugural Test against Pakistan after suffering a side strain.
The 22-year-old was unable to train on Wednesday and has been replaced in the squad by Craig Young for the game starting on Friday in Malahide.
Young made his debut for Ireland in 2013 and will join up with the squad for practice on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Barry McCarthy sustained a shoulder injury playing for Durham against Leicestershire last week and was not considered as he was sent for scans.
Ireland and Afghanistan were awarded full-member status by the International Cricket Council last June, expanding the number of Test-playing nations from 10 to 12.
Ireland face Pakistan before tackling India in two T20Is in late June.
Watch Ireland's maiden Test match, against Pakistan, live on Sky Sports Cricket from 10.55am on Friday 11th May.
