Batsman Luke Wells has signed a new two-year contract with Sussex.
The 25-year-old has scored 5,000 runs for Sussex since joining them in 2009, with his career-best performance of 208 coming at The Oval in 2013 against Surrey.
"I'm really chuffed to sign a new deal. This is the club I've been at since I was nine years old so it's nice to sign for another two years," said Wells.
"The club is in a period of transition at the moment and I'm really excited to be a part of that process to move the club forward, and move my own game forward."
Wells racked up 859 runs this summer, with four centuries, in the Specsavers County Championship. His top score of the year was 181, where he and his partner Ben Brown recorded the second highest fifth-wicket partnership in Sussex history against Glamorgan by putting on 294 runs in 73 overs.
Wells will spend his winter playing Grade Cricket for Australian team University of New South Wales, based in Sydney.
"I'm very pleased that Luke has extended his contract. Having been capped this year, and scoring four first-class centuries, he has given us a very positive and clear indication that he is an integral part of the club moving forward." said Sussex head coach Mark Davies.
