Phil Salt has signed a new one-year deal with Sussex after an impressive first season.

The 20-year-old batsman has had an impressive opening season with Sussex, including a score of 81 in only his second appearance against Middlesex in the Royal London One-Day Cup.

Salt said: "It's a really exciting time to be committing to the club, what with the new management team and the blend of youth and experience; it's a good mix for success.

"I'm proud to have played 20 games in the first-team across all three formats last year and I'm looking forward to playing more, and hopefully cementing my place in the team."

Salt also played in 10 of the Sharks' NatWest T20 Blast matches, and after his breakthrough year with the first team, will spend the winter in Australia working on his game with world-renowned batting coach Trent Woodhill.

Sussex's head coach Mark Davis said: "It's fantastic to see another cricketer who has come through our Academy extend his contract.
