Pakistan batsman Shoaib Malik will retire from Test cricket after the ongoing match with England.
In a surprise move, Malik, who is playing in his 35th Test, confirmed that he would focus only on limited overs cricket at international level.
Malik, 33, was recalled to the Test squad to face England after a five-year absence as a replacement for the injured Azhar Ali.
He made an immediate impression, scoring a Test-best 245 in the first Test at Abu Dhabi.
He failed in Dubai last week, scoring 0 and 2, and in the Sharjah match he was dismissed for seven in the first innings and, on Tuesday, a duck in the second.
He said "the time was right" to call it a day, adding "we have some good youngsters and now is the time to retire. Family comes first. I want to focus on the 2019 World Cup."
