The 2026 PGA Championship is live on Sky Sports next week and a plethora of stars - from the PGA Tour, DP World Tour and the crisis-stricken LIV Golf - are set to compete for glory in the second major of the season.

Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm's futures are in doubt after the Saudi PIF pulled funding from LIV. They are set to headline the breakaway tournament's representation, with major winner and LIV player Dustin Johnson also granted a special exemption.

Legend Phil Mickelson - who, at 50, became the oldest major winner after winning the PGA Championship in 2021 - has withdrawn from the tournament, while Tiger Woods also misses out.

With just two open spots for the tournament left ahead of the Truist Championship live on Sky Sports Golf this weekend, here's everything we know about the PGA Championship field so far...

Recent major winner Cam Smith and 2025 Ryder Cup participant Tyrell Hatton join DeChambeau and Rahm as the names headlining the LIV contingent headed for Pennsylvania - but they will be joined by seven others.

Johnson received an invitation to compete from the PGA of America despite no longer having automatic eligibility after his world ranking fell to No 468. Younger LIV players Elvis Smylie, David Puig, Tom McKibbin and first-year Thomas Detry also received exemptions.

Martin Kaymer enters the tournament as a former PGA Championship winner, while Joaquin Niemann is also able to compete having finished inside the top 15 at last year's tournament.

US police released bodycam footage of Tiger Woods' arrest for allegedly driving under the influence (DUI) after his car crash

Mickelson, after initially being included in the field, issued a statement confirming his withdrawal from the 2026 edition due to personal matters, the same reason he cited for missing The Masters last month.

The former champion has only made one start in LIV Golf this season as speculation around the future of the 55-year-old's golf career continues to swirl. He will be replaced by American Max Homa.

Woods, having been charged with driving under the influence following a car crash near his Florida home in March, is reported to be continuing his recovery with treatment in Switzerland and will not participate in this year's PGA Championship despite being eligible.

The three-time Grand Slam winner is considered unlikely to participate in the US Open or the US Senior Open, according to United States Golf Association chief executive Mike Whan, and has yet to issue a possible timetable for a return to golf.

There are 154 players confirmed for the tournament - but two tournaments preceding the PGA Championship offer two additional spots to their winners.

The Myrtle Beach Classic offers the first with Brooks Koepka, Shane Lowry and Rasmus Hojgaard headlining the South Carolina event.

All three golfers are qualified, with an extra spot for the PGA Championship only being granted to the winner had they not already qualified.

The Truist Championship - featuring the return of Rory McIlroy in his first tournament since his historic Masters win - offers an extra place on the same conditions.

Defending champion Scottie Scheffler will be hoping to retain the PGA Championship crown, and has a good chance at doing it following three consecutive top-two finishes on the tour, including a win at the RBC Heritage Open.

Nevertheless, much of the pre-tournament chatter has been centred around man of the moment McIlroy, who maintains he is just as hungry as ever for more major glory.

""It [returning to action] feels a lot different [to last year]," McIlroy said in his pre-tournament press conference ahead of the Truist Championship. "Even winning [The Masters] felt different.

""I've spoken about this a lot, I felt like winning the Grand Slam was going to be this life-changing thing and in some ways it was, but in other ways I had to remember, 'no, I still have a lot of my career left and I want to keep playing and keep competing'.

"This year, winning was validation for all the work that I've put in over the last few years to get myself back to this place where I'm winning majors. I'm excited for the road ahead.

"I'm excited for this week, I'm excited for Aronimink next week [PGA Championship], Shinnecock [US Open], Birkdale [The Open]. I feel like, if anything, I'm more motivated after what happened at Augusta this year than I've ever been."
