Scottish pair Richie Ramsay and David Drysdale were among the seven players to qualify for this year's Open Championship on Sunday.

Ramsay posted a runner-up finish at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, ending six strokes behind eventual winner Jon Rahm at Portstewart, to claim one of three spots available for those in the top 10 and not already exempt.

Drysdale was a further stroke back in fourth spot after finishing his course-record 63 with seven consecutive birdies, with Ryan Fox grabbing a place due to a better world ranking than Daniel Im - who bogeyed the last.

"I knew there were spots but it had totally gone from my mind," Ramsay said. "I was that focused on what I was doing, but it's a massive bonus.

"It's a golf course that I know. I've played the British Amateur there and it's one of my favourites to play. I'm massively pleased.

"It was a tough last few weeks but I'm a big believer that if you work hard, success will come. This year it's taken a little longer than it should do, but I've managed to get there in the end."

The other four spots were available at the PGA Tour's Greenbrier Classic, where Xander Schauffele claimed a one-shot victory over Robert Streb.

Both players qualified as a result, with Jamie Lovemark and Sebastian Munoz taking the other places for sharing third spot in West Virginia.
