Mayo forward Andy Moran has been named the All-Stars GAA Footballer of the Year for 2017.

The 34-year-old was the top scorer from play with 3-24 this season and was a key member of the Mayo side that narrowly lost the All-Ireland final to Dublin.

Moran beat teammate David Clarke and Dublin duo Stephen Cluxton and James McCarthy to the award.

It means the Footballer of the Year prize stays in Mayo after Lee Keegan was chosen 12 months ago.

In hurling, Joe Canning collected his fourth Hurling All-Star on the night, as Galway dominated the PwC All-Star Hurling selection with seven positions

He was then given the overall recognition for his role in guiding the Tribesmen's All-Ireland winning team with the selection by his peers as Hurler of the Year, after a season where the 29-year-old was central to their first Liam MacCarthy Cup victory since 1988.

Canning's selection is also the first Galway player to be Hurler of the Year since Tony Keady, who was chosen in 1988, and who passed away on the eve of this year's All-Ireland final.
