The Green Bay Packers have signed wide receiver Davante Adams to a lucrative long-term contract extension.

Adams has only ever played for the Packers since his arrival in the NFL in 2014 when he was their selection with the 53rd pick of the draft out of Fresno State University.

The 25-year-old has since gone on to catch 237 regular season passes and 26 touchdowns and he leads the Packers with 74 receptions for 885 yards and 10 touchdowns this season.

Adams had been due to become a free agent after the 2017 campaign but now joins the likes of Antonio Brown, DeAndre Hopkins, AJ Green and Julio Jones at the top of the list of highest-paid NFL receivers.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the deal is worth $58m (£42.9m) over four years, with an $18m (£13.3m) signing bonus, and is heavily weighted towards the first two years.
