Kansas City Chiefs could face the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game at Arrowhead Stadium in a -20 celsius freeze but is it the coldest in NFL history?

It could be one of the coldest games in NFL history when the Kansas City Chiefs take on the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game at the Arrowhead Stadium.

But will it be the coldest one ever at possible lows of minus-20 degrees Celsius?

Not quite - back in 1967 on New Year's Eve, the Green Bay Packers beat the Dallas Cowboys in temperatures of minus-25 to win the NFL Championship and book their spot in Super Bowl II.

This game has been widely regarded as the 'Ice Bowl' and is marked as one of the sport's greatest-ever games, with the Packers winning 21-17.

However, people also have not forgotten the Cincinnati Bengals' AFC Championship game against the-then San Diego Chargers during the 1981 season, which had a wind chill of minus-50, and became known as the Freezer Bowl.

The Bengals ran out as the 27-7 winners - they may have been more used to the temperatures of minus-23 the game was played in!
