Cincinnati Bengals star receiver A.J. Green has torn ligaments in his left ankle and will be sidelined for six to eight weeks, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday.

The seven-time Pro Bowl selection is not expected to be ready for the Bengals' September 8 season opener at Seattle, per the report.

Green, who turns 31 on Wednesday, was carted off the field on Saturday during the team's first training camp practice at the University of Dayton.

Green missed seven games last season with an injured right toe, falling short of 1,000 receiving yards for just the second time in his eight-year career.

He has caught 602 passes for 8,907 yards and 63 touchdowns in 111 games since the Bengals selected him fourth overall in the 2011 NFL Draft.
