New York Giants receiver Sterling Shepard is in concussion protocol for the second time this season and will miss Thursday's game against the New England Patriots, according to multiple reports.

Shepard's latest concussion occurred during the third quarter of Sunday's 28-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The NFL Network reported that Shepard could miss "considerable time."

Shepard, 26, reported concussion symptoms to the Giants on Monday.

He briefly departed Sunday's game before briefly returning in the fourth quarter. He again exited and didn't return.

Shepard also suffered a concussion in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys and returned to play later in that game. The NFL and NFLPA conducted a review of how the situation was handled and could possibly do so again this time.
