Joseph Randle: The Dallas Cowboys star faces a steep fine for shoplifting

Dallas Cowboys' running back Joseph Randle faces a steep fine but won't be suspended after his arrest on a shoplifting charge.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett has said that Randle would be fined "significantly" but the 22-year-old would play against the New York Giants on Sunday.

Randle was charged with a Class B misdemeanor of theft between $50 and $500 after he was accused of taking $123 worth of cologne and underwear from a department store at a suburban Dallas mall on Monday.

"The actions we're going to take are to fine him significantly and move forward," Garrett said.

Misdemeanor theft

Randle, who was charged with misdemeanor theft and released on bond Tuesday, will reportedly pay about $29,000 from his base salary of $450,000 - or about one week's paycheck.

"There were a lot of circumstances that were surrounding the situation but there are no excuses, no explanations for this," added Garrett.

"He made a poor decision. As poor a decision as he has ever made in his life. He recognises this. There are consequences to that. We made that abundantly clear."

The arrest came a day after one of Randle's best games in two seasons for Dallas with a stunning 30-23 victory at Super Bowl champions Seattle.

He ran five times for 52 yards to help the Cowboys improve to 5-1 for the season in the NFC East.
