Noel Fehily warmed up for his big-race ride aboard dual King George VI Chase winner Silviniaco Conti at Down Royal with a near 38/1 treble at Warwick.

The 40-year-old, who will be reunited with the Paul Nicholls-trained gelding in the JNWine.com Champion Chase on Saturday, started his haul with victory aboard Nucky Thompson (5/1) in the opening Willmott Dixon Supply Chain Juvenile Maiden Hurdle.

Having finished fourth on his hurdling debut at Wetherby, the three-year-old bettered that effort when making all to claim a neck victory in the two-mile heat and hand trainer Richard Spencer his first ever winner at the course from his first runner.

The Newmarket handler said: "He settled better today. The race at Wetherby was a falsely run race as the winner went off by 40 lengths and the rest hacked around and he was just too keen.

"We took the bull by the horns and settled him in front today. He is a very slick jumper and he jumped very well. Looking at the race he has just galloped them into the ground.

"Noel has given him a lovely front-running ride. He is different class."

He added: "We will try to make hay while the ground is like it is, as he doesn't mind it. We will see how he comes out of it and what the ground is like put - I might put him in a Triumph Hurdle trial at Cheltenham next weekend."
