Verdict

The market will shed more light on this contest but in the absence of that guide we'll take HERDSMAN to provide his owner Trevor Hemmings with a winner at his local track. Phillip Hobbs speaks highly of this son of Flemensfirth and, although he'll do better when sent over an obstacle, he is closely related to bumper winners. Nicky Henderson has a profitable record with bumper runners here so Eldred is afforded maximum respect although it's entirely possible that this test will be on the sharp side, as it could be for point-to-point winner Charminster. Solway Pete's trainer landed this last year, in the process causing something of a shock, so don't rule him out at a big price while Oscar Sierra is another newcomer worthy of a market check. Finally AP's record when riding for talented trainer Rebecca Curtis makes Old Wigmore appealing in a hard race to solve.
