Verdict
Bannock has placed form at a higher level and looked as though his turn wasn't far away at Chester last time, though he's again conceding weight to some very seasoned handicappers. Fellow three-year-old Arnold Lane should be thereabouts again but would probably prefer an extra furlong and a softer surface and Mick Channon also runs Warwick second Atlantic Sport. GLOBAL VILLAGE's last two wins, including one over this C&D in May, have come on soft going but he ran another cracking race on good ground behind Field Of Dream here in July and can reverse that form with the winner and third Bertiewhittle on better terms today. Brian Ellison's gelding is much improved this term so gets the vote as Ryan Clark's claim is an added bonus. Primaeval may not have appreciated the dead ground when behind several of these here in June and is worth a second look and Imperial Guest may struggle to confirm Goodwood form with Arnold Lane here, though George Margarson also runs Excellent Guest who would have a chance on his best form. Mabait and Smarty Socks could also go close.
