Verdict
Gold Sovereign stands out in this field and should prove hard to beat. Cape Hawk can ask most questions of the selection with Perfect Star an interesting alternative. The selection has missed out on a couple of high profile engagements due to ground conditions in the last few weeks but he has been quite well fancied for those races and this looks easier. The bare form of his win at Redcar isn't out of the ordinary but he's clearly thought capable of better and can bring home the money this afternoon. Cape Hawk has taken a while to transfer his all-weather form to turf but won nicely here on his penultimate start before running really well, albeit from an advantageous box, at Goodwood and should be a live threat. Vanderlin bids to continue Andrew Balding's good run in this race but has no room for error from his current mark. That comment also applies to the grand old timer Ace Of Hearts who retains all of his zest but will continue to be vulnerable. Kinsya is not without hope back in trip but of more interest is Perfect Star following her promising run at Goodwood. It's debateable how much improvement she will have made in such a short space of time but she may not need to find too much to figure. The race for the places could be tight but Gold Sovereign may be out on his own in front.
