In depth

Verdict

Jerrysback will be diverted here if Haydock is abandoned and has to be of interest if making his handicap debut having run well in a Grade 2 here last month. Mister Whitaker has gone up another level this season whereas Benatar hasn’t quite reproduced last season’s form in three runs this term, though still has time on his side. MR MEDIC beat Flying Angel over course and distance on his reappearance and only weakened approaching the last in a Grade 3 at Cheltenham subsequently. He has an excellent strike-rate over fences and Robert Walford’s charge is worth an interest in this. Venetia Williams can get one ready at home so a market check is advised on the lightly-raced Belami Des Pictons while Doitforthevillage bolted up at Chepstow last month. Happy Diva doesn’t know how to run a bad race and Get On The Yager will strip fitter for an outing at Wetherby. Cyrname is preferred to San Benedeto of the two Nicholls runners.
