OVERRULE is the one to be with here although it would be no surprise to see Optimus and Meneur take a hand in proceedings. This is a competitive end to the day's proceedings but there is plenty to like about the chances of Overrule who gets into this race on a nice racing weight. He attracted plenty of support prior to his latest start but was unable to reel in the winner despite producing a strong finish. He is able to race from the same mark this afternoon and should make a bold bid to go one better. Simon Walker is arguably the best pilot in the race and his mount, Optimus, has to be on the short-list. The gelding is well treated these days, returned to form at Goodwood last time and has plenty in his favour although a strong pace at this trip may just stretch him. Sporting Gesture, Kalasam and Potentiale are worth considering but we prefer the claims of Meneur. He made a pleasing debut for his shrewd yard last month when travelling really well there until the lack of race fitness took its toll in the closing stages over a mile six. That run should have brought him on, the shorter distance should suit and he is a must for the short-list but marginal preference is for Overrule.
