The richest jumps race in France may not quite carry the same prestige as a Grand National or Gold Cup but it's seen its fair share of thrills and spills down the years and the famous Juge De Paix is as fearsome as any obstacle at Aintree. Remember Rose, Polar Rochelais and Mid Dancer, the last three winners of the Grade 1 chase, are all in action again with Ruby Walsh set to partner the former for Jean-Paul Galorini, who has trained more than 1,700 winners over jumps including this contest three times. David Casey rides the blinkered Chavoy but he appears to have plenty to find with another Gallorini runner, Shannon Rock. PISTOLET ROUGE has really got his act together lately at Auteuil, winning a Grade 3 and a Grade 2 over 2m6f at the track since the middle of March. His ability to stay the longer trip has to be taken on trust but he has the form to land this if lasting home, though Rubi Ball would go close if bouncing back from a couple of recent setbacks.
