      Verdict

      MASHAM STAR stands out in this opener as Mark Johnston’s colt has been placed in both starts in better company at York and should have the measure of these on that form. Wigan Warrior also drops in class after a modest debut at Haydock and is preferred to Heir of Excitement but the newcomer Bear Essentials may prove a bigger threat. He’s a half-brother to a winning sprinter and entered in valuable sales races.
