In depth

Verdict

Winhill House is selected ahead of Strensall and Wicked Wilma in a moderate finale. In truth, there are numerous others that could feasibly make the frame for the each-way money, and support for the likes of Conjecture, The History Man and Obe One would not be surprising at this level. Obe One in particular, as he has shown signs of a revival of late. Admittedly, he has not won a race since his three-year-old days, so is obviously not one to trust implicitly. Still, this is not a great race and Alan Berry's charge is likely to represent good value in a race of this nature. Wicked Wilma also represents the Berry yard and, as she is far less exposed than a host of the others, she could be the surprise package of the race. The veteran Strensall is sprinter on the downgrade and finds himself at this level after a string of modest efforts. However, this is his first try in a race of this nature and, as he is straightforward character for an inexperienced rider, he rates as a threat at this level. Nevertheless, Winhill House has a much stronger recent profile and, having blazed a trail in stronger company last time out, he will be hard to peg back in a race lacking in strength in depth.
