Verdict
JESSIEMAC was only fifth in this last year and is 8lb higher but the locally-trained mare has won her last two starts here and her latest second at Newcastle was a further step forward. She has to go on the shortlist along with fellow course and distance winner Off The Hook, who slips further down the weights. Theflickeringlight disappointed when on a hat-trick at Doncaster but she’s still a novice so could easily bounce back. Animore won at Kelso in December and something may have been amiss next time at Musselburgh. Ulterior Motives has been doing most of her racing at Sedgefield so far but did win a handicap at that track in January and, though 7lb higher, still has some scope. Baby Ticker is lightly raced for her age but she’s never won off a mark this high.
