In depth

Verdict

Stakes should probably be kept to a minimum in a modest opener restricted to conditional jockeys. Kevin Brogan’s mount Sophie Olivia has won over fences and hurdles at Hexham. That was a while ago but she’s back in the right grade. Kelso fifth Southeast Rose has the past form to figure off a lowly mark and Racks Cross is relatively unexposed. DESARAY GIRL last won more than two years ago and recent efforts have been uninspiring but she has dropped 34lb in the ratings since that victory and Emma Smith-Chaston takes off a further 6lb today.
