In depth
Verdict
Ours is given a tentative vote, while Quaker Boy, Suhezy and Silk Merchant are others that can go close in this company. Silk Merchant has an eye-catching pedigree and it will be disappointing for his connections if he cannot win a race at some point. However, he was a touch below par when he last raced and now has something to prove. Suhezy has plenty of experience but is still unexposed at this trip - even though his solitary win came over seven furlongs at Thirsk last summer. He has posted a handful of encouraging efforts this term and has each-way claims if the dead-eight stand their ground. Quaker Boy is 1lb worse off with the selection following their encounter at Newcastle last month and needs everything to fall into place for him. Some give underfoot would also be a help and, as he needs to conclusively prove he has the stamina for 7f, the son of Agnes World may prove vulnerable near the finish. Which is where we expect Ours to be doing all his best work. Firm ground is ideal for the son of Mark Of Esteem and, with the form of his penultimate start looking the most solid recent guideline, James Bethel's charge is fancied to gain an overdue first career success this afternoon.
