Verdict

Time Bandit made a highly satisfactory chasing debut at Chepstow when connections exploited what was a lenient mark, issued on the evidence of his novice hurdle form. That said what he beat were a bunch of exposed, staying chasers in very testing conditions and he is opposable today. Red Scally gets the nomination having broke his chasing duck at Fakenham last month in what was admittedly a weak contest. The positives to be taken form the contest are that he raced quite lazily indicating more could be in the offering. He could potentially be well treated, racing off a mark 8lb lower than his last victory over hurdles. The worry would be the drop back in trip. David Pipe does very well with the select team he sends to Scotland and Time Bandit is the obvious danger. Something Silver appeared very one paced when beaten by the exposed Jefertiti on his last two outings. Mr Multifix won a beginners' chase last time, a race remembered more for the exit of his rival than his victory. It is hard to forecast the outcome of the race, had his rival completed but he is an improving sort. Red Scally is not the easiest to predict but gets the vote.
