    Verdict

The drop in trip is probably against top-weight Vicario and so preference is for SOMETHING SILVER having been dropped 2lbs for his recent defeat at the track. Jim Goldie's reliable gelding has not won since February 2008 but he has run some good races in defeat, including in the first-time visor last time when second to Corlande. He has now dropped to a mark of 92 and is unlikely to be far away. Toy Gun is a course winner but Howard Johnson's gelding was very disappointing when attempting to complete the hat-trick last time in the Eider. However he is dropped back in trip today and with the ground in his favour we will see a much improved performance despite his hike in the weights. Reckless Venture should not be dismissed after a mini break but the feeling is that he is still badly handicapped and as a consequence we will side with Something Silver to win gold.
