Verdict
Second guessing BLUE SPINNAKER is not a good idea however Mick Easterby's gelding is still feasibly handicapped on old form despite running here off a 17lb higher mark than at the start of the season, and he gets the nod over Medici Pearl and Red And White. At home on varying ground conditions, the nine-year-old has been fairly well-held on recent runs at Ripon. He has started at big prices on those runs and if he is a single figure price then it may pay to take note. The Osteopath has been disappointing recently on soft ground and has something to prove now; it feels a long time since he won two on the bounce back in the Spring. Esoterica is a course and distance winner but has never encountered ground like this, whilst Elliwan is an interesting stablemate of the selection on his handicap debut. Red And White returns to the track after a year and a half off and he could be anything; he was impressive when winning his maiden last year and the market may prove informative. Jamieson Gold and Marning Star are both holding their form well, as is Medici Pearl who got back to winning ways last time at Redcar and may have more to give today. A competitive handicap and we will take a chance on Blue Spinnaker.
